10 Ways to Nurture your Inner Fabulous

Do you look up to strong women like Hillary Clinton, Taylor Swift and Mary Angelou? Do you wish you could be like them, tall and proud?

Many women spend their lives living up to other people’s expectations. But what about your own needs, wants and desires? Do you ignore those? Sometimes, you must do what is best for you and your life. Here are a few tips on how can you can gain confidence and nurture your inner fabulous!

 Get your classy shoes out of their box and wear them: Don’t save them for another time or one day. Bring out those classy shoes that you have reserved for special occasions and start wearing them.

 Go to the hairdressers: Go to your hairdressers today and get a haircut. If you have a certain style in mind, take along some pictures and share them with your hairdresser. If not, ask the hairdresser to suggest a good cut that will go with your face shape and lifestyle.

 Get a lipstick that goes with your skin tone: The best place to start is to ask at the beauty counter as to what colours will work with your skin tone. You will be amazed at how different you will feel. A new lip colour can make you smile more and when that happens, your whole face and outlook can change.

Get a manicure or pedicure: How many of you have gotten a pedicure or manicure recently? If not, schedule one as soon as possible. Pamper yourself occasionally and it can make you feel better about yourself. Even better, take along a friend and enjoy the experience together.

Dance with your kids or anyone who is about: Put some dance music on and break into an impromptu jig. Just don’t do it around strangers! You can do it with your kids, your partner or even your parents.

Take a walk around the block: Taking a walk can make a world of difference to your mood. If you feel stressed out from work or from life, take a walk around the block. It will clear your head and infuse you with new strength to face challenges.

Take deep breaths: Close your eyes and breathe deeply for a few minutes. Imagine your tensions flowing out of you and peace and energy coming in. It will make you feel better and calmer.

 Drink water: Staying well hydrated is not only good for your skin but also for your brain and body. It will flush out toxins from your body, hydrate your organs and make you feel more vibrant.

 Accessorise: Saw a pair of flashy earrings recently? How about buying a new handbag? You live only once. There is no harm in buying the occasional bauble or trinket. Accessories can also accentuate your outfits. You will go from nondescript to chic instantly. I can certainly attest to this one – accessories are fun!

 Catch up with your girlfriends: There is nothing like a good ole’ chat with your girlfriends to lift your spirits. If you are going through a tough phase, talking to a friend about it is one of the best things that you can do for your heart and mind. It will not only help you sort through your feelings but can also give you new perspectives and release pent up tension.
